Book Reviews

I have officially gotten back into reading-like-a-madwoman-mode. It's wonderful. And I blame Mary for all of it (the stinker)!

Mary lent me Twilight by Stephanie Meyers. It's a fluffy, yet serious human falls in love with a vampire story. Except Edward's not a typical vampire. I was bored with the book until I got to the middle and then I couldn't stop reading. It was the first time in a while that I stayed up until 2am reading! lol! I immediately bought the other 3 novels in the series (New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn). New Moon was my least favorite of the series because of what Edward does (or doesn't) do. Some people don't like Breaking Dawn, but I loved it. Meyers ties up every single loose end of the series and creates new ones that only lead to happily ever afters. The entire series follows Bella and Edward as they seek, and finally find, their happily ever after. It's the perfect fluff fix!

I read Eragon a year ago after I saw the movie. Never judge a book by its movie. The novel is light, somewhat philosphical and takes plot/character points from so many other fantasy novels that I've read. The guy who wrote the series did manage to give everything its unique twist, but I'm still reading it and going "he could've gotten that from Dragonflight!" Book #3 just came out this weekend and it was good! I need to go back and re-read the series. Of course he gained points by mentioning the Doctor. :D

Quilting is going slowly but surely. I don't have as much time as I'd like to quilt between school and work, which is a combination of boredom and annoyance. The last peice of wizard of oz fabric came in, so I can finish that quilt top. I finished piecing Papa's and it looks really, really good!

Oh, I finished the dog bone quilt:

Well, I'm off to re-read something good. Probably Dragonflight.....
